How might posture be utilized as a design principle to shape design outputs?
Work-in-Progress
Key topics: posture - psychology relationship, design interventions
Background: My goal is to use design more intentionally. We don’t usually consider what posture our products or services put people in. But, posture subconsciously affects psychology and behavior, so we should be more aware of it in our designs.
Aim: This research explores how posture could be used in our design process, and shape design outcomes.
Example applications: How to create altruistic behavior in service design, curiosity in experience design, and confident autonomy in healthcare design.
Project 1 focus: How could we use posture to improve the way we design?
Could we use posture in workshops to help us be more curious, open-minded, and empathetic?
Could mirror-neurons be an efficient way to achieve this as well?
Project 2 focus: How could we use posture to improve our design outputs?
Could we use posture in healthcare design to help patients feel more confident about their health goals and speed up the healing process?
Could we use posture to make services that humble us, and make altruistic behavior positively contagious (like in the idea of paying it forward)?
Could we use posture to design spaces and experiences that encourage a more curious outlook that encourages active participation and problem solving in our communities?
